Most of us are not applying enough sunscreen to our face.
As dermatologists, we’ve historically said two finger lengths is the right amount for your face. But most likely, that’s still not enough.
Here’s the truth: whatever SPF is on the bottle — 30, 50, 100 — you’re probably not getting that full number, because most people don’t apply as much as they should.
But here’s my real take: I’d rather you put something on your skin every single day, even if it’s just two fingers, than skip sunscreen entirely while chasing the “perfect” amount. Do the best you can.
And sunscreen is just one piece of your sun protection routine. I also lean on:🧢 A hat with a brim🕶️ Sunglasses🧣 A wrap over my shoulders👕 Sun-protective clothing🌳 Seeking shade
All of these matter just as much as the sunscreen itself.
What’s your trick for making sure you’re applying enough SPF?
