5 things I would do IMMEDIATELY if I was diagnosed with skin cancer

If I were diagnosed with skin cancer, here’s exactly what I’d do.

First, sunscreen every single day, SPF 30 or higher, no exceptions.

Second, I’d invest in real sun protective clothing — shirts, hats, sunglasses — anytime I’m outside.

Third, I’d start taking polypodium leucotomos, a fern extract that isn’t usually my go-to as a supplement person, but the data on it paired with sunscreen for reducing sun damage and burning is compelling.

Fourth, I’d start nicotinamide, 500mg twice a day — research shows it can lengthen the time between skin cancers, and once you’ve had one, your risk of a second goes up.

And fifth, I’d get my vitamin D checked. We need it for our immune system, but getting it by tanning or burning isn’t the way — get your levels tested, and if they’re under 50, your doctor may recommend a supplement instead. #skincancer #skincancerawareness
